"I am absolutely convinced - and I might be misinterpreted and I do not want that, as a sign of complacency for anyone who was or as any sign of sympathy for someone who is now president of Romania – I believe that former presidents of Romania must be senators by law", Ponta said.
He showed that you cannot ask a former president of Romania to go to run in a college in Târgu Jiu against him and possibly against Dan Diaconescu.
"I think the need to have in Parliament the former representatives of the highest state institutions will certainly lead to an improved reputation of the Senate before the citizens and together we can do these things separate from the electoral battle that sometimes takes too much of our time", Ponta said.
Prime Minister Victor Ponta made this statement during the celebration meeting of the Sentate, to which president Traian Băsescu was not invited, but which was attended by the former head of state Ion Iliescu and Emil Constantinescu.
