Prime Minister Victor Ponta said Tuesday evening that in the current regional context, Romania remained the most stable country in the region, both economically as well militarily and politically.
He stressed that the idea of stability and predictability is essential in the context where Romania's trend is growing, encouraged also by the favorable economic situation of the beginning of the year, the collections registered in the two first months of the year exceeded the authorities expectations AGERPRES reports.
"The important thing is that we have an environment conducive to higher revenue and the first two months were better than we expected. Things cannot change overnight so the only thing that is extremely important and can influence a radical process, a trend is the regional situation, the external one. We live in an area increasingly stirring and I am not speaking only of Ukraine, which obviously is in civil war, I am referring to what is happening in our neighboring countries, Russia pressures related to energy , the disturbances, the different political projects, the situation in Greece is extremely exciting for all of Europe, or in this context Romania remained the most stable country in the region and economically we are the only ones still going up, in military terms, in political terms. If we were to begin blowing ourselves up, undergoing political crises, sure all this positive trend would go downwards. I hope we are not suicidal. The idea of stability and predictability is essential. The important thing is to tell those who invest in Romania, to assure them that the flat rate will not change, the CAS is reduced, as well as the VAT , " Victor Ponta said.
He added that he fostered no fears as to his government ‘s change because he has on his side economic realities that cannot be contradicted. "On the governance safety, in terms of what we proposed we are sure that we will continue to have these realities that cannot be contradicted," Ponta said.
