"Sanctions and tribulations unfortunately get to those on the other side of the Prut, in particular. I discussed with Prime Minister Leancă and he will have our full support in terms of the economic sanction measures that Moldova is subject from the part of the Russian Federation, “Ponta said during the Government meeting held on Wednesday.
Ponta also stated that the Romanian Minister of Agriculture, Daniel Constantin, discussed with the European Commissioner in this area to support Moldova.
"From Romania, there is a full support for raising rates on the European market for the agro-food products exported by Moldova", he explained
Russia banned, starting Monday, imports of canned fruits and vegetables from Moldova, after deciding to impose an embargo on Moldovan fruit because of "dangerous insects."
Chisinau authorities consider that the decision to impose the embargo is driven by geopolitical interests, and Prime Minister Leanca ordered relevant authorities to urgently prepare a detailed analysis of the legal framework covering trade relations with Russia and bring forth proposals.
