The rehabilitation works of Maria Radna Monastery, the most important Catholic pilgrimage place in the Western part of our country, will be inaugurated on August 2, after investment of over 10 million. Pope Francis was invited to attend the event according to announces arq.ro.
The parish priest of the monastery, Andreas Reinholz, said the invitation was sent by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Timisoara.

"So far his attendance has not been confirmed, but Pope Francis has been informed of this possibility. However, the Vatican will be represented at this important event, " Reinholz said.
The Parish Priest said that several important people have confirmed their presence at the event, including President Klaus Iohannis.

The Monastery is currently undergoing a repairs program worth 47.14 million lei, or over 10 million, the bulk of the funds, that is 30 million lei are funded by the European Union, the Regional Operational Program. The rest of the money was allocated by the Government and the beneficiary, ie the Roman Catholic Diocese of Timisoara.

According to the rehabilitation project, the current complex of buildings will comprise a library for ten thousand old books, a museum, a permanent exhibition center and conference rooms. Three buildings declared historic monuments will be restored and the surrounding areas will be refurbished up to DN7.
Representatives of the monastery said that the entire complex will enter into a permanent tourist circuit in 2015, estimating that it will double the number of visitors which now stands at 80,000 per year.
