President Klaus Iohannis posted a video message on his Facebook page on Sunday, wishing happy Easter to Orthodox Christians.
"The Resurrection of our Lord is the celebration of light an joy, bringing hope and Christian love. It is a moment that defines us as humans, founds us as a society and turns us both to the Lord, to ourselves and to the ones around us. To all those who celebrate Easter today, home and abroad — Orthodox, Greek Catholic, Pentecostal, Baptists, Second Adventists, free Evangelical and Armenian Christians — I wish a happy holiday, peace in their souls and joy in their families. Christ is resurrected!", said the President.
Although he is a member of the Evangelical Church of Augustan Confession (protestant), Klaus Iohannis and his wife Carmen attended the Mass celebrated by Patriarch Daniel at the Orthodox Patriarchate. On March 27, the couple had also attended Mass in the Catholic cathedral of their home city, Sibiu.
