Irina Radu took over the helm of the Public Television after Stelian Tănase and his entire management team were dismissed.

Irina Radu's bid for interim president was endorsed by the Committees on Culture and by the two Chambers of Parliament meeting in a joint session.

Irina Radu, who was Director of Broadcasting in the Romanian Public Television, got the approval of the Committees on Culture and 234 votes of MPs meeting in a joint session of the two Chambers of Parliament.

The MPs from the National Liberal Party did not vote for Irina Radu as interim president of the Public Television. She was backed, however, by the MPs from the ruling Coalition.

Irina Radu can hold the new interim position for up to six months. The President of the Public Television was replaced after the two Chambers of Parliament meeting in a joint session rejected TVR's activity report. Thus, the whole management team of the Public Broadcaster was automatically dismissed.
