Prosecutors argue that the damages in this case file amount to 670 million euros. Investigators discovered in the searches conducted last week at the home of Vlad MOISESCU, an agreement whereby the mother in law of the former treasurer of the PNL lent her daughter 670 million euros. Chiliman and the other three people involved in the case were heard by prosecutors of DNA Ploiesti.
Andrei Chiliman is accused of receiving commissions of 10-15% of the contracts values which he signed on behalf of the District 1 City Hall with various companies. In order to cover the three billion lei damages identified, the DNA Ploiesti prosecutors ordered the seizure of the goods of Andrei Chiliman and of the other three defendants in the case. In the case of the former treasurer of the Liberal Party, Vlad MOISESCU, the seizure was instated on houses, shares and accounts. During the searches, the prosecutors found in MOISESCU’s house a document, whereby his mother in law was lending her daughter 670 million EUR.
Chiliman's personal adviser, Ioana Costescu and local councilor Ion Brad are also targeted in the case files and were heard by the anticorruption prosecutors. Both say that the allegations against them are not true.
Vlad Moisescu and Ioana Costescu are accused of setting up an organized crime group and of influence peddling, while Andrei Chiliman and Ion Brad – are charged with setting up a criminal group and complicity to influence peddling. According to investigators, MOISESCU was the "brain" and Ioana Costescu ensured that his orders were obeyed by the District 1 City Hall officials.
