Floods have hit more than 40 homes and ravaged more than 100 outbuildings in 30 settlements in the northern and central parts of the country.

In total, seven counties were affected and a man in Salaj, reported missing before the floods, was found dead.


52 people in Salaj, Satu Mare and Maramures were evacuated. Those who stayed behind and spent the night with buckets in their hands, taking water out from their homes and praying that the waters should not strike again.
Sălaj is the most affected county. After abundant rainfall, the high waters have hit 31 localities . In the Surduc village alone over 30 households were flooded.
In the Solona village, the high waters took all people had in their courtyards and gardens have been buried in the mud.

Red code flood warning was extended until Thursday at 02.00, for rivers Crasna şi Barcău in the counties of Salaj and Satu Mare and orange code was maintained until Thursday morning on rivers in the counties of Cluj, Salaj and Maramures, Satu Mare, Bistriţa-Năsăud and Bihor.
