It snowed non-stop for only 24 hours and road traffic froze in south-eastern Romania. Bucharest was cut off from Moldavia and Dobrogea by a strong blizzard.
Many national highways, including highway number 2 and the Sun Motorway were closed to traffic for almost two days.
These road closures led to tragedies. Left to fend for themselves, two mothers lost their newborns in God-forsaken villages buried under ten feet of snow.
