Romania registered in March the strongest acceleration of construction works in the EU

Romania registered in March the strongest acceleration of construction works in the EU

Romania recorded in March the strongest advance of construction works compared to February, of 10.3%, while at European Union (EU)  level  a contraction of 0.5% was recorded,  according to data released Monday by Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU, MEDIAFAX informs.    

On second position depending on the  construction output growth stood Slovenia, with an advance of 8.9%, followed by Italy with 1.9%.

The largest decreases were reported by Portugal, 3%, Netherlands 2.6% and Germany 2.2%.
    
In the euro area, the decline reported in February stood at 0.6%.
    
 Only 15 of the 28 Member States submitted data to Eurostat. In six of these countries, the works  in construction rose and in  the rest they  fell . 


Compared with the same month last year, the construction production in Romania decreased by 0.7%, while in the EU  it rose by 5.3%.

The  highest annual growth rates were reported by Slovenia with 44.9%, Hungary 34.1%, and Spain with 19.1%. The sharpest falls were reported by Portugal with 13.8%, Sweden 2.8%, and Italy with 1.4%.
    
In the euro area, the advance was located at 5.2%.    


Six of the 15 countries that submitted data to Eurostat recorded decreases and the remaining countries reported growth.
