Minister for the Information Society, Sorin Grindeanu, revealed on Wednesday for DCNews that Romania has not paid out its debts in the Microsoft scandal.

Specifically, Romania still has to pay 22 million euros.

The debt must be paid out by the end of 2015 to the Swiss company which resold the licenses to the Romanian state. The company no longer exists, but another legal entity from Cyprus took over the contract with the Romanian State and assigned it to a bank.

One of the Cyprus company shareholders is a Russian.

Minister Sorin Grindeanu explained in a telephone intervention on Antena 3, that it was a contract worth 33 million euros.

"There is a final buy-out contract worth 33 million euros. Only the first installment has been paid. It should be completed at the end of 2015, the current year, with two currently outstanding installments, each worth 11 million euro. "
"We, as ministry, have asked the court to suspend the payments, the court will decide based on new evidence that we've provided, whether or not it is necessary to pay the last two installments. We believe that not, considering that this is a contract with a company that currently does not exist. This contract is assigned. It is not entered into by us, as ministry, and that bank, there is no contractual relationship and I believe that this issue, one related to licenses, led to some price ... the license got to $ 1,800, which is unbelievable. "

Grindeanu explained that the contract is at the discretion of the court.

"This is why we have come up with new evidence proving that the company no longer exists, with everything we say in court, we hope the court will prove us right. I would not want to state beforehand. In any event, Microsoft, the company was paid, I understand. We'll see, they'll be in the trial, as witnesses, not as defendants or injured party. "
