The Romanian students have won three silver medals and three bronze medals at the International Junior Science Olympiad, held from December 2 to 11 in Argentina, the Ministry of Education informs, according to Mediafax.
All six Romanian Olympians participating in the XI edition of the International Junior Science Olympiad, from Mendoza, have succeeded to be among the winners.
The silver medals were awarded to Ştefan Răzvan Bălăucă (National College "Mihai Eminescu" from Botoşani), Hakan Calila (National College "Mircea cel Bătrân" from Constanţa) and Tudor Cristian Cozma (National College "Emil Racoviţă" from Iaşi).
The bronze medals were awarded to Irina Mălina Strugaru (National College from Iaşi), Andrei Vlad Băsulescu (National College "Emanoil Gojdu" from Oradea) and Dan-Mircea Neagoe (School no. 16 from Constanţa).
Everyone in the national team are students in the eighth grade.
The International Junior Science Olympiad is an integrative competition, covering topics in three disciplines: chemistry, physics and biology. Competitors seat three exams (two theoretical and one practical on teams of three students).
This year's edition was attended by 187 participants from 32 countries.
