Six MEDALS for the Romanian students in the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad

Romanian students have won a gold medal and five medals of silver at the Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, held 24-29 June in Belgrade announced on Monday, the Ministry of Education and Research, Mediafax reports.

The Gold Medal was awarded to Theodor Mihai Iliant student at "Mircea cel Batran" in Constanta. Alexandra Timofte from "Tudor VIANU" National College of Informatics in Bucharest, Lenca Iarina Cuturela and Ioan Andrei Nicolae from the International Informatics High School in Bucharest, Stefan Razvan Bălăucă from the National College "Mihai Eminescu" in Botosani, and Ioan Paul Petru Tîrlişan from the Secondary School "Mihai Eminescu" in Bistriţa-Năsăud have won thesilver medals.

The Romanian delegation was headed by Professors Andrei Eckstein, from the Polytechnic University of Timisoara and by Marius Perianu, National College "Ion Minulescu" in Slatina. From the Romanian Mathematical Society participated as an observer, Professor Mircea Aldea Fianu from school no. 19 in Bucharest.


The Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (OBMJ), the nineteenth edition was attended by competitors from 19 countries, including 11 states and eight permanent basis with guest status.
