"Attacks have been forestalled in Romania too", SRI director stated.
Asked whether there had been forestalled terrorist attacks in Romania, George Maior answered: ‘There have been, but I’m not going to provide you with details. We acted strictly at a preventive level and accomplished our mission. There were no events also due to more subtle actions, discrete, which we had in mind at SRI, including the expulsion of some people, not allowing access of suspected individuals and also activities and the drafting of a precise information chart on the risks we are facing".
Romania is on the ISIL’s list and still after the attempts in France you have not raised the terrorism alert level up from the blue precautionary level .
George Maior: " We took some extra measures in the service, including the defense of potential targets in an attempt to better see border trafficking and to have a good informational image of what is happening on the national territory. But based on the assessment of the service, in accordance with the operative situation, we did not consider it necessary to raise the alert level ".
Therefore, we are not in a major threat for the moment?
George Maior: "No, we are not. The population needs to understand that we are doing everything possible to keep this alert level and to keep away such event from the national territory. This is why we are acting strategically. ".
