Doctors from the public health system are not allowed to take money or donations from their patients.
The Supreme Court has ruled that such practices do not comply with the provisions of the Criminal Code in force.
The Court's decision is motivated as follows: alhough there is a Romanian law allowing patients to express their gratitude to doctors by offering them money or various goods, a true disciple of Hyppocrates is not supposed to receive such "gifts".
