Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici, signed Wednesday in Chisinau, the agreement by which Romania will grant the Republic of Moldova a loan of 150 mln. Euros available once it is ratified by the two countries at the cost paid by the Romanian state for loans contracted from the international markets.

""The agreement will enter into force after being ratified by the two countries, and the first installment of the loan will be granted after the Government of the Republic of Moldova will inform the Romanian one about the stage of consultations and negotiations it has with the International Monetary Fund . I hope that the first installment of the loan will be released as soon as possible, " Teodorovici said in a statement, according to Mediafax.

Each installment will be paid on a maximum maturity period of five years and the cost charged will be the cost paid by Romania for similar loans contracted from international markets.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced on September 22, at the end of the joint meeting of the governments of Romania and Moldova, that he will propose to the Parliament an agreement on a refundable financial assistance of 150 million euros over a period of 5 years between the two governments.

He also stated that the interest rate will be around 1.5%, therefore in “extremely favorable conditions".

The Prime Minister gave assurances that he discussed this agreement with President Klaus Iohannis and the political party leaders and with the presidents of the two Chambers.
