The family of Iulian Gherguţ, the Romanian kidnapped in Burkina Faso is desperate and asks the Romanian government for help. They are asking the state to pay the ransom for the man to be released. The family’s reaction comes after a video of the man kidnapped by the group Al Mourabitoun was posted on the internet.

The video came out almost five months after Iulian Gherguţ’s abduction when no one knew whether he was alive or not.

The man's relatives urge the authorities in Romania and Burkina Faso to do everything in their power so that Iulian could return home. Iulian Ghergut ‘s parents are old and do not understand why their son was taken hostage. They have been living in Italy for more than ten years with a relative of theirs.

The Romanian was kidnapped on April 4 from a mine in Burkina Faso, owned by businessman Frank Timis, of Romanian origin. The video appeared on Saturday, the first proof that the Romanian is alive after five months since his kidnapping.

The video recording last 1 minute and 8 seconds and features Iulian Gherguţ. The Romanian seems to be dressed in Islamic attire. Iulian Gherguţ greets his parents and asks for help in order to be released.
