TO THE MEDIA INSTITUTIONS
Following the broadcast of the video recordings during the Daily Summary show on 06/18/2014 on Antena 3, I wish to make the following clarifications:
First, I would like to report that involving the Presidency and the President of Romania in this media scandal has got no real support. The Romanian President Traian Basescu had nothing to do with my relationship with Anghel family members.
Mentioning the name of Traian Basescu in the dialogue I had with the Anghel family members was not made in the sense concluded by the TV station’s program. I mentioned that the President knew about the case of Anghel Sandu under the circumstances where his case file was very public at the time, his situation being quite well known. It is regrettable that they are attempting to denigrate the Presidential Institution under the circumstances where the President of Romania, through his activity over the past years, has worked and succeeded in making Justice work in Romania. Related to the acknowledged corruption deeds that I am accused of, Justice will have its say without me benefiting from the advantage of being the President’s brother.
Secondly I want to say that all the video broadcast by Antena 3 come and argue the facts presented by me in the complaint I filed myself of criminal blackmail and in the statement I made before the DNA prosecutor .
The respective amounts of money are mentioned in reference with the moment of their restitution by Marian Capatana to the Anghel family members, which took place before me, in my office from the Port of Constanta.
I can’t help noticing that the sequences broadcast are taken out of context and placed in such an order with the purpose of giving the impression that there is a link between the talks about the money and the talks related to Anghel Sandu’s case file .
I would like to specify that these images have to be analyzed and corroborated with all the other evidence in the blackmail file. Therefore, from the interception made by the DGA prosecutors and officers and of the discussion carried between me , the Anghel family members and Marian Capatana, the relationship between the parties is obvious. The fact is that Marian Capatana borrowed an amount of money from the Anghel family that he was to return and the most important thing is that I did not ask nor receive any amounts of money.
I requested the Territorial Service of DNA Constanta to communicate the criminal complaint filed by Florin Anghel and the evidence accompanying this complaint. Once we receive these records in their entirety we will be able to make other remarks on their merits
