The former head of ANI, Horia Georgescu, remains in custody after the judges of the High Court of Cassation and Justice rejected his appeal Friday.

The following will also remain in custody: Mihnea Remus Iuoraș (former Vice President of the Central Commission for Compensations within ANRP), Ingrid Luciana Popa Mocanu (former vice president of the comiteei), Constantin Cătălin Canangiu (committee member), Gheorghe Vișoiu and Alexandru Florin Hanu (assessors), Agerpres informs.

In turn, assessors Dorin Cornel Drulă and Neculai Nistor will continue on house arrest.

The Supreme Court rejected their appeal, the decision is final.

Horia Georgescu was detained by the DNA prosecutors and charged with three counts: aggravated office abuse which he committed during 2007-2009, when the former head of ANI was part of the Central Commission for Compensations within ANRP.

The damages estimated by investigators in this case amount to about 75 million.
