Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis, conveyed to his French counterpart Francois Hollande, a letter to express his deepest regret about the terrorist attack on Friday night which was held in Paris, classifying the attacks as " despicable acts of cowardice ".
"I learned with deep sadness of the series of bombings that took place on 13 November in Paris that claimed many lives. I want to convey to you on my behalf and on behalf of Romania my condolences and I am kindly asking you to send them to the bereaved families " , Iohannis conveyed to the French President Francois Hololande, in a letter published on the website of the Embassy of France.
However, Iohannis stressed in the letter that "Romania drastically condemns these acts of despicable cowardice ", adding that in this difficult time for the French people Romania is more than ever along with France, it is determined to strengthen cooperation with this country to combat "the scourge of terrorism".
The Romanian President specified on the night of the attacks that the "barbaric attacks" that took place in Paris show that the international community should prove more determination in fighting terrorism and in defending the values of humanity.
" I got with sorrow and consternation the news about the bloody terrorist attacks that took place in Paris and which put the whole world in mourning. I express on behalf of myself and of the Romanian people, solidarity with the authorities in Paris and the French nation.
These barbaric attacks that have mowed down the lives of tens of innocent people should be a signal to the international community: to show even more determination in fighting terrorism and in defending the values of humanity. God rest the missing and guard the wounded, "wrote President Klaus Iohannis on Facebook.
The same message was later posted on the official website of the presidential administration, adding: “ I express on my behalf and on behalf of the Romanian people, solidarity with the authorities in Paris and the French nation and I am conveying condolences to the bereaved families.”
