Klaus Iohannis conveyed on Saturday a message on the occasion of Navy Day, valuing "the quality and the level of modern standards" of this " structure of balanced forces ", capable of performing specific tasks both domestically and for those deployed under NATO and EU .

President Klaus Iohannis has sent this message through his presidential counselor Ion Oprişor, who attended on his behalf the ceremonies held in Constance on Navy Day.

"The celebration of the Assumption, on 15 August has become by tradition, the Day of the Romanian Navy. This double celebration gives me the pleasant opportunity to extend my greetings to all who serve with devotion and dedication on the blue sea - sailors , soldiers and civilians alike , shipbuilders and port workers - professionals who have worn the Romanian flag on the mast and in their soul while sailing the world ‘s seas and oceans.

As a sign of appreciation and respect for ancestors, we ought to bring a pious homage to all those who have devoted their lives to this noble professions and who have sacrificed themselves for the glory of the tricolor, " Klaus Iohannis said.
The President says that through the quality and the level of modern standards of those who serve our country today in the Romanian Navy, "our Navy military is highlighted as a structure of balanced forces, able to fulfill specific missions both domestically and in the operation of regional initiatives implemented under the aegis of NATO and the European Union ". Iohannis mentions the active participation of the Navy in the Resolve South Atlantic initiative by the regional component, Resolve Black Sea, especially in the current crisis manifested in neighboring Romania.

The President announced that he acted upon the proposal of the Minister of National Defence to decorate the Combat Flag of the Staff Navy with the Order of Maritime Virtue in rank of Knight, for the military, "for high professionalism and remarkable results achieved over the years ".







"On this celebration, the sailors border guards also show remarkable results, they have constantly demonstrated their devotion and competence in maritime and river border security, with particular emphasis on the EU's external borders.
On the occasion of the Romanian Navy Day, I wish, however, to convey to all those working in areas related to ships or along with them and to their families, good health, happiness and achievements in future work. May Virgin Mary accompany you and protect you wherever you are! Happy Navy Day !, concludes the President.

Klaus Iohannis did not attend the ceremonies in Constanta, on the occasion of Navy Day and sent in his place Ion Oprişor presidential adviser, who heads the National Security Department of the Presidential Administration.
