The Minister proposed to take up the Agriculture portfolio, Achim Irimescu wants to register "kurtos kolac" as a traditional Romanian product, along the Sibiu salami, the Ibăneşti cheese and also the Novac Afumat fish.
"I have spoken in this sense (related to the kurtos kolac) with officials from Hungary and we have both agreed that it is a Romanian product, but we could not find so far an association to promote it ", Irimescu stated during the interview with the parliament committees on Agricultures Mediafax reports.
So far, the only Romanian registered product in the EU is the Topoloveni jam.
"We also want to protect the Sibiu salami and the Ibăneşti cheese (...). We have also taken into account the Novaci smoked fish, this is a problem because it is being promoted by an economic agent not by an association", added Irimescu.

Achim Irimescu is Minister Counselor at the Permanent Representation of Romania in Brussels and head of the Agriculture unit, Romania's representative in the Special Committee on Agriculture.
He was Secretary of State for Agriculture between May 2012 - February 2014, proposed by Agriculture Minister Daniel Constantin.
