Ion Cazacu, Nastase's lawyer, said after the court ruled that the former prime minister may be released on parole, that although prosecutors challenged that decision, the arguments in favor of the Prosecutor are very few.

"Today, in court, the Prosecutor’s position was a delicate one because he had no evidence to challenge the proposal by the Penitentiary’s Commission," the lawyer said Wednesday in a telephone intervention on Antena 3 .

"I want to emphasize this: it is not the request of Mr. Adrian Nastase to benefit of parole, but a proposal made by the Penitentiary’s Commission, empowered in this regard, which concluded that the legal conditions for Mr. Adrian Nastase to be released early were met, "added the lawyer.

4th District Court ruled Wednesday that former Prime Minister Adrian Nastase may be released on parole, but the decision was appealed by prosecutors before the Bucharest Tribunal.

Up to the appeal against the judgment ruled by the court is considered, Adrian Nastase will stay in prison
