Promotion by the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, of the Great Hungary symbols and of the Székely Land, only a day after he called for “effective Romanian-Hungarian relationship", is totally unacceptable, says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Unfortunately, only a day after he appealed for pragmatism and declared himself in favor of effective Romanian-Hungarian relationships, the Hungarian Prime Minister V. Orban chose to post on his Facebook account images and symbols of the province of Greater Hungary and of the Székely Land", reads a statement by the MFA issued as a response to the Facebook posts.
MFA also specifies that the "promotion by the Hungarian prime minister personally, of these revisionist symbols are completely unacceptable and go against the spirit of the Treaty of understanding, cooperation and good neighborhood between Romania and Hungary dated in 1996, against the Declaration on cooperation and strategic partnership with Hungary for the Europe of the XXI century from 2002 and the constitutional order of Romania ".
Moreover, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that such an attitude "does not contribute in any way to streamlining the Romanian-Hungarian relationship nor to the restoration of confidence, as proposed, only a day ago, by the Hungarian Prime Minister"

"As long as the Hungarian counterpart does not prove beyond doubt that it is willing to comply with the legal and political parameters agreed between Romania and Hungary in the abovementioned documents, the bilateral relationship will not become truly balanced and built on mutual trust. Romania - in its part - is open and wants to develop the bilateral dialogue, but in strict accordance with these parameters, in the benefit of citizens of the two countries, as EU Member States and NATO Allies, "concluded the Foreign Ministry.

"The Conservative Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, has posted a series of pictures with symbols of the so-called" Szekely Land "and" Greater Hungary ", after attending Saturday the Summer University" of Tusvanyos " from Tusnad Baths. The pictures Viktor Orban posted are from the he visited displaying metallic and wooden badges "Greater Hungary" and the so-called "Szekely Land."
