UPDATE – Radu Pricop, Traian Băsescu’s son in law, suspected of complicity to extortion, left around 12:00 from DNA. He is scheduled to return before the prosecutors to make statements in the upcoming days. Radu Pricop was informed about his quality of suspect, but did not want to make any statement before the investigators.
The son in law of Traian Băsescu, Radu Pricop, is suspected of complicity to blackmail in the case file of businessman Sergiu Lucinschi, son of the former president of the Republic of Moldova.
Radu Pricop, husband of Ioana Băsescu, the eldest daughter of ex-president Traian Băsescu, has arrived at the DNA around 11.00 h. The anti-corruption prosecutors informed him that he is suspect in a blackmail case.
Businessman Sergiu Lucinshi has already been arrested for extortion and influence peddling. In the same case was arrested and Constantin Comăneanu, police officer with the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIOCT), who is accused of bribery.
According to DNA in the period December 2014 - March 2015 Sergiu Lucinshi, with the complicity of others, blackmailed a businessman into giving him four million euros, although the man did not owe him money, arguing that it was the only way he would withdraw a criminal complaint submitted to DIOCT for several offenses, including fraudulent management.
