The propaganda people faithful to Traian Băsescu are trying to argue that the General Prosecutions does not have the competency to investigate the former president and that the case file should go the DNA.

This is about the file open by PSD senator Gabriela Firea in which she accuses Traian Băsescu of blackmail.

The prosecutor in charge of the file in which Traian Băsescu is suspected of threat and blackmail decided that the next hearing should be held Monday, March 23, at 10.00h.

At the Monday meeting, Traian Băsescu is not subpoenaed to appear in person but only his lawyer, Lucian Bolcaş who is defending Firea in the case, stated Wednesday in the 100 minutes show on Antena 3.

Traian Băsescu requested today that his lawyer , Dan Apostol, should go through the file and the case prosecutor allowed it, judicial sources say .

Also, counselor Bolcaş added that the ex-president was not very happy to see him.

"Obviously he was not happy to see me (Traian Băsescu – editor’s note)", Lucian Bolcaş said.

In the past, the ex-president Traian Băsescu refused to appoint Bolcaş at the Constitutional Court.

Traian Băsescu was heard Wednesday at the General Prosecution in capacity of suspect in the case file of Gabriela Firea. It is for the first time in 10 years that Băsescu ends up beofre the investigators .
Suspected of blackmail Traian Basescu went today to the General Prosecution, where he stayed for only 20 minutes and refused to give statements, nor to the prosecutors nor to the media. He is charged with two counts of blackmail for which the maximum penalty is seven years in prison.

Traian Basescu tried to intervene with the General Prosecutor after his NANA estate was foreclosed. Tiberiu Nitu said this morning that the former President telephoned to his office after the seizure. The Prosecutor General said that he refused to have a discussion with Basescu.

Traian Băsescu riscă seven years in jail.

The Băsescu – Firea scandal started after the former president said referring to the PSD senator that he could say she was a “good journalist but a catastrophic lawyer ". "She should better mind her own business and she should better take care of what is going on in her husband’s estate, where he is mayor. Because, she might not find him at home one day if she is not careful. I understand that in his parish there plenty of bad things going on ", Băsescu said on April 14, 2014.

Traian Basescu said that he recommended Prime Minister Victor Ponta not to take as spokesperson the “blackmailer Senator " Gabriela Firea for the coalition in elections, because she is bad luck for the man she wants to protect. Basescu also reminded the activity of Gabriela Firea during Isarescu’s campaign for the presidency.

The president’s warning came a few days after Gabriela Firea, member in the Nana committee, stated that the transaction whereby the president’s daughter got her hands on the land in Călăraşi would allegedly be null.
