Prime Minister Victor Ponta is concerned that journalists have to suffer from the decisions of the courts. "Seizing press offices and putting a physical pressure on some media outlets has never happen before," the Head of Government notes. Journalists should be allowed to do their jobs without pressure, but on the other hand the press should be an example and pay their contributions to the state, Ponta says.

"I was extremely outraged when I saw that criminal proceedings related to offenses which I do not want to comment, reflecting on the life of journalists and media institutions. The fact that a media owner is convicted of a criminal offense is something that happens in the justice system, but to confiscate press offices and put physical pressure on media institutions, that has never happened before and it is a reason for concern. More worrying is that another part of the mass media enjoyed it. And I was thinking about how often we enjoy it believing that our turn will never come, " Prime Minister said attending the SEEMO conference.

The event is organized by SEEMO, in partnership with the International Academy - International Media Center (IMC-IA) and the PR Organization for Central and South Eastern Europe (SECEPRO), the National News Agency Agerpres, Intact Media Group, TVR, Radio Romania News, Journalism and Communication Faculty - University of Bucharest, RADOR, are the media partners of the event.
