Prime Minister Victor Ponta met Saturday in Kosovo, with the Romanian military. The Prime Minister conveyed to the Romanian soldiers that Romania’s continued  presence in the region was a food thing because it could  have an important role in maintaining peace and dialogue, not having any conflict with Albanian Kosovars nor the Serbs.

"In Kosovo, in terms of our commitment, I think it is better to be present there and we will continue to be present, because Romania can play an important role in dialogue and peace keeping. We are not seen as enemies nor by the Albanian Kosovars nor by the  Serbian Kosovars, because we were never enemies in any way, " Ponta told the Romanian soldiers in Kosovo, according to Mediafax.

The Prime Minister added that he hoped that  soon the  presence in the area of the peacekeeping forces would no longer be needed, showing that "it will probably take some time".

Ponta also told the military that they attempted to provide a "long-term status" in financial terms for soldiers returning from the theaters of operation.
