The government has recovered very little of the 530,000 jobs lost during the period 2009 - April 2012, respectively only 140,000 jobs, Prime Minister Victor Ponta sated, according to MEDIAFAX.

"I want to go back to the problem that has not been resolved and which the Government need to solve, the recovery of lost jobs since 2009. More than 530,000 jobs were lost between 2009 - April 2012.We have recovered very little of these, only 140,000 jobs. The important thing is that trough all employment incentive programs, but especially by a policy of reducing taxes on labor, we should return quickly to the same number of people who had a labor contract prior to the period 2009-2012 and reach on the medium term the fundamental objective of Romania, which is to have more people employed than the number of pensioners "Ponta said in a press conference at the Government.

He presented a paper in which the Government's commitment to create a million new jobs in eight years is maintained.

There are currently about 5.4 million pensioners and 4.6 million employees.

In the document, the new jobs would be created by attracting European funds, state investments, especially in infrastructure, facilities for businesses to hire young people and create jobs , allowing employment in the public sector and through the "Youth Guarantees" to encourage youth employment after graduation.
