In full crisis, while wages and pensions were being cut, Elena Udrea would spend EUR 234 936 047 (1.088.180.570 lei) on "crazy" investments in tourism. The disclosure was made Thursday on the Daily Summary show on Antena 3.

The budget of the Ministry for Regional Development and Tourism led by Elena Udrea, benefitted during 2010-2011 of over 1,2 billion dollars plus the additional allocations from the Government’s Reserve Fund.

Thus, millions of euro cut from  pensions and salaries in full crisis were spent,  in 2009 and 2010, on ski slopes, mountain ridges refuges construction, tourist information centers, tourist, trails signaling systems, countless spas, mini-ports, the balneal museum, golf course landscaping, walkways, decks, spa parks and more.

Therefore, while Romanians were being told their salaries needed to  be cut by 25% due to the financial crisis, the money were directed  to the ministry led by Udrea.

Interestingly enough, later on the rule changed. The huge amounts began to no longer be given by government decision, but by Minister order in order to avoid passing the bill in government.

Even more interesting might be the fact that the Official Journal  did not publish nor register any order passed by Minister  Elena Udrea during her time in the office informing on the amounts of money allotted for different activities.
