A 31 year-old woman was bitten by a lion from the private zoo of a Dâmboviţa County bailiff. The woman was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, but she said she had been bitten by dogs, for fear of the bailiff's revenge.
The latter appears to be keeping wild animals illegally in his back yard, and although local authorities are aware of it, nobody did anything about it. Under the law, anyone can raise wild animals provided one has all the necessary permits. So far, no safety inspector has been allowed to set foot on the bailiff's property to check the private zoo there.
