Romanian tennis player Simona Halep claimed the victory in the Dubai Tennis Championships final, defeating Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic) in two sets 6-4, 7-6 (7/4), in a one-hour and 47-minute match.
With this win that secures her 900 WTA points and 456,000 US dollars, Halep claims the 10th title in her career and the second this year after the Shenzhen tournament, climbing to 3rd place in the WTA hierarchy.
This was the first meeting of the pair, where top-seed Halep resiliently gained the upper hand over the less experienced, 17th seed Pliskova.
