After 40 years, Romania could host for the second time the Summer Universiade. The project belongs to several young people from the association "Student Sport" at the University of Bucharest. The 2021 Summer Universiade organization would be the largest project of the country in recent years, the initiators believe. Adrian Socaciu and Daniel Tandreu, representatives of the Association "Student Sports" explained on the Tuesday's edition of the Daily Income show, the problems they face in the bid to hold the event.
"At the moment, Romania’s application depends on a signature from the Ministry of Education to submit their intention to hold the 2021 Summer Universiade," Adrian Socaciu said.
According to Daniel Tandreu, Romania's application involves "a letter of intent and a participation fee of 10,000 euros." "Once this letter is filed, it means we are candidates and that we enter into a competition with other countries that have submitted their applications", Daniel Tandreu explained.
According to officials of the International University Sports Federation, chances are high that Romania would he granted the organization of the Universiade in 2021.
The Universiade is a sports and cultural event for students worldwide. The competition is organized every two years, being the second event in scope after the Olympic Games. By March, Romania must pay a fee of $ 10,000 to the International University Sports Federation, and the final answer will come in November.
