"The Republic of Moldova remains a top priority on Romania’s agenda, including through the perspective of the preparations for the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga," said Wednesday, Secretary of State for European Affairs, George Ciamba, during a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, Iulian Groza.

Moreover, says a press release issued by the MFA, Ciamba reassured him that Romania will continue the approaches in this regard, "namely maintaining the ambitious goals of the Eastern Partnership in relation to the most advanced Eastern Partners of the EU such as the Republic of Moldova".

The Romanian Secretary of State emphasized the need of Moldova to use the current moment marked by the entry into service of a new Executive as a "window of opportunity" to reaffirm the will to continue the European course of the country and highlighted the importance of the Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Riga in May.

Ciamba stressed that the expectations of European partners in terms of enhancing reforms and Association Agreement enforcement are high and showed the need for a sustained pace of reforms and concrete results in the modernization process and getting closer to the European Union.
"Vice Minister Iulian Groza showed, in the context, that If Moldova maintains as a priority the project of European integration and will work to achieve visible results on the line followed and which led to positive developments during the past year in its relationship with the EU", concludes the source.
