The UK might suspend for a period of four years the granting of social benefits for migrants coming from the EU, according to a series of concessions made by the European Council at the request of the British government. Threatening to hold a referendum on UK’s leaving the European Union, Prime Minister David Cameron called for a reform of EU rules, jurnalul.ro reports.
Yesterday, the European Council issued the first draft of an agreement containing the concessions which the EU can do. Thus, the insular state can suspend the social benefits for migrants coming from the EU for a period of four years. For the immigrants working and paying taxes in this country, the state will have to compensate them the latter.
The measure must be approved by all EU member states. Another concession stipulates that the UK will be able to pay allowances for the immigrant’s children left in the country of origin at the existing value in that country, not at the level paid in the UK.

Also, Britain will be entitled to refuse migrants from outside the EU, under suspicion of terrorism, even if they do not pose an "immediate". threat The concessions were welcomed by David Cameron, who added that some details still needed consideration. The proposal will be discussed extensively at the EU summit on 18 to 19 February.
