President Klaus Iohannis and Italian Prime Matteo Renzi talked Friday about the prospects of Romania's accession into Schengen.
The Italian Prime Minister said that accession is not only in our country’s best interest but also in the interests of Italy and the European Union in the current international context.
"Once again, it has been reconfirmed that Italy has supported and continues to support our efforts to join Schengen, Prime Minister Renzi considering that Romania’s accession is not only in our interest but also in the interest of Italy and the European Union", official sources said quoted by Mediafax.
In the current European political context , they have become increasingly more aware that Romania’s, accession into Schengen, "is a factor that can add value to empower the European Union to tackle these migration movements," quoted sources added.
