Jean-Claude Juncker announced on Friday, the members of the future European Executive after talks with the candidates proposed by the Member States. Jean-Claude Juncker, on the new structure of the European Commission
Out of the 28 commissioners, 15 belong to the right and center-right, eight are from the Socialists and five from the Liberals.
We remind you that there was a whole scandal in Bucharest on the topic of the European Commissioner nomination which has not ended yet. The joke about humanitarian aid that Traian Băsescu was talking about was decried by both Victor Ponta and Foreign Affairs Minister, Titus Corlăţean.
On the other hand, the President argues that there is no doubt about Corina Cretu’s name featuring the nominations list for the Commissioner position nor on the portfolio Romania would get and said he would provide details about the 'joke in Brussels' 'after the official announcement
During the negotiations with the European Commission president, they have never addressed the topic of the humanitarian aid portfolio, Victor Ponta argues.
On the other hand, the president says that he does have a lot do with the assignment of Corina Creţu as European Commissioner.
Romania will hold a very important portfolio in the next European Commission, despite the many attacks in the country, the Foreign Affairs Minister, Titus Corlăţean confirms.
After president Junker announces the portfolios distribution, the European Parliament will have to endorse the entire team and the European Commission will take on its responsibilities.
