The topic of the union of the Republic of Moldova with Romania is not currently on the political agenda nor of Chisinau nor of Bucharest, stated Saturday PM Valeriu Streleţ during a TV program, quoted Sunday by the local publication Independent.md and Agerpres

Talking about the need to speed up the process of energy interconnection of Moldova to Romania, Streleţ stressed that "Romania is our main supporter, but there is no question of a possible merging into a single state", stated the PM quoted by Independent.md.
According to the INSCOP Research Barometer, commissioned by the newspaper "Adevarul", nearly 68% of Romanians support the union with Moldova by 2018, when the 100th anniversary of the Great Union of 1918 is marked.

Interviewed about what they thought of the two countries merging by 2018, 67.9% of the Romanians respondents agreed to it, while only 14.8% did not support the union by 2018, Jurnal.md recalls.

Prime Minister Valeriu Streleţ and his government were sworn in on July 30, with 52 votes of the members of the new ruling coalition Alliance for European Integration-3 - consisting of three pro-European parties, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), the Democratic Party (PD ) and the Liberal Party (PL).
