Analyst and American author Robert D. Kaplan appreciates, in an interview with Agerpres that the European Union tends to fall apart gradually and he is skeptical that European leaders will manage to solve the problems of the refugee crisis and the increasing threat of terrorism, says Radu Tudor, in a blog posting titled “The EU is weakening. Eastern Europe strengthens with the US ”.
"I fear that the European Union is falling apart gradually and that instead of a united Europe, you'll have several different Europes, advancing at different speeds, and this will reduce the powers of the West and will prevent the United States from having a strong ally in Europe. So I hope that European leaders will be able to manage the crisis and will find different solutions along the way, but I'm not convinced that they can do so, " Kaplan said.
In his opinion amid deeper problems facing the European Union, the population of Central and Eastern European countries, including Romanians, are turning increasingly toward the United States.
