The drivers in Romania drive on African quality routes. The transport infrastructure in our country bears no resemblance to Europe.

A survey by the World Economic Forum ranks us after countries such as Egypt, Cameroon or Tanzania.

You do not need to be a driver to find out that our roads look nothing like European roads. For instance, we have no highway reaching the Eastern and Western border or even going across the Carpathians. And this is highlighted by the survey conducted by the World Economic Forum.

Romania is ranked 121 out of the 144 monitored countries. Countries such as Cameron, Bangladesh, Egypt, Costa Rica and Lebanon are better rated than Romania.

The countries poorer rated than Romania are Brazil Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Nigeria and Colombia. Except for the questionable status of Russia, no country in Europe is found here.

The top place is occupied by the UAE, followed by European countries such as: Portugal, Austria and France. Germany is ranked 13th .

The survey’s authors asked 14,000 business and academic researchers to award the countries grades from 1 to 7. An underdeveloped road network received one point, while the extended and efficient road system received seven points. From this point of view UAE received 6.6 points, Hungary 4.2, Romania 2.8 and the last on the list, Timor, only 1.9 points.
