Two American soldiers are accused of having raped a Romanian woman in Italy. The USA are asking for the suspects repatriation

Two American soldiers stationed at a base in Northern Italy are accused of raping a Romanian woman presented as prostitute, the case spurred diplomatic tensions between Rome and Washington, in the context where the American justice department require repatriation of the two, according to MEDIAFAX.  

The two American soldiers - Gray Gerelle LaMarcus and Edil Mc Cough (both aged 21) - are stationed at the Del Din military base, located near Vicenza (Veneto, Northern Italy).

The two American soldiers are accused of assault, battery and rape of a Romanian woman aged 24, who was six months pregnant, in the city of Vicenza.

 Because of the aggression that took place a few days ago, the Romanian woman presented as a prostitute, is likely to lose her pregnancy and is currently admitted in a hospital in San Bortolo, near Vicenza.

According to Italian media, the United States requests the return of the two American soldiers to be tried in a U.S. court.

Mayor of Vicenza, Achille Variati asked the Italian Minister of Justice, Andrea Orlando, to intervene to stop the extradition of two soldiers to the United States.
        
One of the two soldiers tried to commit suicide after committing the aggression and was hospitalized. Incidentally, one of the two soldiers is also suspected of raping a minor in Italy last autumn.
