Overhead road crossings and tunnels and roundabouts on top of one another. This infrastructure designs are not meant for a developed country but for good old Romania.

Such designs have so far taken shape only on paper, of course. And this paper makes up a new feasability study for Bucharest's southern ring road, for which the National Road Management Company has already paid 66 thousand euros.

The southern ring road of Bucharest! A road which, theoretically, should help drivers avoid the busy traffic in the capital city. Unfortunately, the reality is exactly the opposite.

Busy traffic, strained nerves and dozens of minutes wasted at each and every crossroad. Since 2007, the National Road Management Company has financed two feasability studies for the Capital's southern ring road. The first one cost almost 170 thousand euros.

After this endorsed study expired, the Road Management Company held another public tender for a better feasability study, that somehow cost only 66 thousand euros this time around.

The new feasability study comes up with more than futuristic solutions.

The ring road, supposed to be completed by 2018, will have four lanes. At the intersection with County highway 401 going into Berceni village, a roundabout over the ring road is supposed to be built. Drivers coming from the no.4 National Highway will descend from the suspended roundabout on ramps going into all ring road directions.
