The largest Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in this country will turn into a large pile of rubble when the next big earthquake strikes.
For 26 years now, doctors from the CC Iliescu Institute in Bucharest pray every day, before treating their patients, that the ground may not shake again in this part of the world.
Built in 1960, the building hosting the Institute is among those of highest seismic hazard in this country. The management of this medical center quarterly informs authorities that the lives of almost one thousand people are in danger, even in case of a magnitude five earthquake.
