The Romanian population in Spain was estimated on   January 1, 2013 at 868,635, continuing to be  the largest community of  immigrants   in this country, despite the decrease by  3.2% compared to January 2012,  a census provisional data issued  by the Iberian National Institute of  Statistics show.   


Following the Romanians, the  second largest community in Spain   on January 1, 2013, were the Moroccans - 787.013, and  the British ranked  third- 383.09.


On the same date, the number of Bulgarians in Spain was estimated at 168.631, down by 4,4% compared to January 2012.

Moreover, all foreign communities in this country have narrowed the number over  the last 12 months, the percentage recorded significant decreases among those who came from South America.


 The average age of Romanians in Spain is estimated at 31.5 years, according to the same provisional data from January 1,  2013, which confirms  the fact that most of them are there to work.


By comparison, the average age of those coming to Spain from other countries of Western Europe is much higher: United Kingdom - 52, Germany - 50.5 France - 41.7.

Provisional census data shows that on  January 1, 2013, there were  approximately 5.52 million foreigners in Spain , compared to 5.73 in January 2012.

The overall population of Spain is currently estimated at 47 million people.
