Accused by the English press of wanting to  emigrate en masse  to the UK, Romanians  do not enjoy a good reputation in the police statistics. A report drawn by the English police  features Romanians  as  topping the chart of those who occupy  abusively  uninhabited houses. According to the official data, in London, nearly half of them are Romanians.

According to the local media, it took six weeks and  2.000 pounds worth of court fees  to evict a Romanian family from a house in Tottenham.

In UK there are many cases of  uninhabited houses or buildings  which are  occupied by individuals  without the permission  nor the knowledge of the owners, and according to the London police, most of the  squatters are not British.

“Over the past six months since the legislation changed, 41 out of the 92 people  indicted or prosecuted  were from Romania, 16 from Poland and 13 from UK, according to BBC

The so-called  squatters of Romanian citizenship have decisively contributed  to the legislation change in the UK, meant to protect the owners from the abusive occupancy of their houses. In August 2011, a group of Roma  occupied and devastated the London house of an employee from the Immigration office, while the woman was on vacation.
