Prime Minister Victor Ponta, who is the acting minister of Justice, has said that both Basescu and Antonescu have the impression that the Minister of Justice has more power he actually does in reality and he has explained that he is not the prosecutors’ chief, but he will express his opinion in the CSM (Superior Council of Magistracy) meeting, writes The National Journal.

"Mr. Basescu and Mr. Antonescu have the impression that the Minister of Justice has more power than he actually does.I am not the prosecutors’s chief, I do not even have the right to summon CSM, but I am entitled to my opinion and I will say it, where appropriate, during a CSM session, for explanations of Mrs. Kovesi, possibly  for actions of the Judicial Inspection, to see how filed private recorded conversations end up in media, how a member of CSAT is taped - for Mr. Rus was a member of CSAT when he was taped -, and other possible violations of law. That certainly I will do”, said PM.

Interim President Antonescu said on Wednesday that he disagrees with the statement of Prime Minister Victor Ponta, who asked Basescu not to terrorize the citizens anymore, adding that if someone is terrorizing any citizen, the Minister of Justice should take measures.
