We are the last in Europe when it comes to highways. And that despite the fact that 4 billion Euros have been invested in the country for roads building. Romania has got the smallest highways network per capita in the European Union. More precisely, each Romanian gets 2,4 centimeters of highway, gandul. Info writes taking over Eurostat data.

CNADNR, the Romanian authority for roads construction and management, have had 4 billion available between 2007 and 2012 to build highways and another 3, 6 billion Euros to repair the national express ways. In five years, Romanians have managed to build only 267 Km of highway.

Adding that up, our country managed to reach a total of 530 kilometers. But, reported to the number of people, we're the worst of all EU countries. That is , each Romanian gets 2,4 cm of highway. Just above us, there is Poland , with 2.7 cm for every citizen, although it has more than a thousand kilometers of highway.
Surprisingly, United Kingdom concludes the top of shame, according to Eurostat. Every man in the kingdom has hot 5.8 cm of highway. It is true that Britain has nearly 3,700 kilometers of highway and a population of nearly 63 million people. On the other end, however, there is Slovenia, where every citizen has got 37, 3 cm of highway.


Southern European neighbors have got only 768 kilometers of highway, but a population of less than 2 million people. Spain is ranked second with over 32 cm of road per capita, and Cyprus ranks third with 29.8 cm of highway for every citizen.
