Be EU. How EU wants to stop energy wasting
Officials in Brussels have set targets to be attained by the Member States in order to increase environmental protection levels and the proportion of green energy in total energy consumption of the population, according to naturenergy.ro.
The package of policies on energy and climate contains specifications regarding the greenhouse gas emissions accepted, that should be reduced by 40% compared to the rate they were at in 1990, and production of renewable energy should account for 27% of total consumption at EU level.
This decision comes at the insistence of some ministers of major European economies, expressed shortly before the publication of proposals by the Commission, so that EU officials establish ambitious targets for 2030.
Sabina Iosub guests at Be EU tv show, Peter Liese (EPP) and Adrian Joyce, general secretary at EuroACE, explained what green energy means and what the real impact for the population of the European Union will be.
