Horse meat scandal is not a food safety issue, but an issue of risk of fraud, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dacian Cioloş stated Monday in a press conference.
"First of all it is not a food safety issue nor a health issue, but a matter of risk of fraud, the fraudulent use of horse meat in the mixture or sold as beef. Until now, the information we have from the Directorate General for Health and Consumer Protection, the Romanian authorities have cooperated well with the European Commission, " Ciolos said.
