Romania is a construction site. 200 km of highways are under construction and works are expected to be started. Authorities hope the deadline to be the year 2016. The contract value for these sites is approaching a billion, and so far the CNADNR paid around 230 euros million to highways constructers.

In the absence of substantial investment from the state, infrastructure constructions, a sector which should support the whole economy fell by almost 27% in the first half of this year, according to the National Institute of Statistics. Public investment rose in the first seven months of the year to about 1.3 billion euros, down by 29% compared to the same period last year.

CNADNR has just signed this year two new contracts for the highways construction, lots 3 and 4 of section Sebes-Turda. Some sections of highways that CNADNR auctioned this year include the second batch of the Nădlac - Arad highway (16 km) which is already 85% ready and expected to cost an additional 32 million euros, Ogra - Targu-Mures highway for 226 million euros, Câmpia Turzii - Ogra for about 428 million euros, and Suplacu Barcău - Borş for nearly 265 million.

"Everyone talks about taxes. We should generally talk about the money available from the European Union and which we were not ready to absorb," said Professor Nicu Mark invited on the Daily Income show.
